DISTRICT NEWS.
ECMONT YILLAGF. (From Our Own Correspondent). The annual meeting . of the Boxing Club was held in the hall on .Saturday evening last. Mr. A. A. Yeates presided over a good attendance. New members were elected as follows: Messrs. Wilson. Herbert, Williams. Marsh, Molloy and Davis. The office-bearers were elected as follows:—President. Mr. (!. F. Dcwhirst; vice-presidents, Messr.s. Foster (Kginont Village), .T. Houlihan (Kent road), ,T. Gibson (Kaimiro), A. Chard (Upland road), and T. Smellie (Hill-borough). iMr. R. O'Byrne was re-appointed instructor. .Many eulogistic remarks were passed on Mr. O'Bvrne's work during the past year, and on the trouble lie bad taken to bo always present at the meetings of the club. The. instructor's fee was li.xed at ;C1 per quarter, the committee to supplement tlic amoimt if funds permit. Club nijrlit was fixed for Monday, the quarter to start 011 the Sth .May. Tlic secretary was instructed to apply for a reduction in the cost of the hall, and to Mr. J. .T. Stajrpoole extending to hini a hearty invitation from the club to brill!; out a team of his pupils for a friendly spar. A vote of thanks to the outgoing officers of the club, and the usual complimentary vote to the chair concluded the meeting.
