PROFESSIONAL FOR SYDNEY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Sydney, May 6. R.. Martin, a prominent Scotch professional golfer, has arrived. He intends to settle in Sydney, and states that golf in England is at a higher level than ever before. THE NGAMOTU CLUB. The first competition of the season for the St. Andrew's Cross was played °" Saturday in beautiful weather. Twentyfive competed, the winner being J. A. Haslam with a net score of 74. The following are the six best scores:— Gr. Hep. Net. J. A. Haslam 92 18 74 F. S. Johns 82 2 80 P. D. McCord 89 9 80 H. Stow 100 20 80 E. Bary 93 12 81 A. Bewley 87 4 83 A mixed foursomes will be played next Saturday.
At the annual meeting of the Eltham ,Club on Friday, Mr. Rochfort was elected president, and Mr. G. W. Tayle:-, junr., secretary and treasurer.
