ALASKAN COAL LANDS.
ROUGH JUSTICE. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright New York, May 5. Emulating the Boston Harbor Tea Party of 1773, a mob at Cordova; Alaska, enraged at the non-settlement of the Alaskan coal lands cases by the Washington legal authorities, threw hundreds of tons of Canadian coal into the harbor, declaring that while millions of tons of Alaskan coal was not mined foreign coal would not be used. The Alaska Steamship Company owns the coal and imported it. FURTHER TROUBLE FEARED. MAYOR SENDS FOR TROOPS. Received 8, 12.23 a.m. New York, May 7. Threats are openly made at Cordova, Alaska, that when the steamer arrives her coal will be dumped into the sea. The Mayor has telegraphed for troops.
