Sir John Forrest, in an interview, said lie was inclined to believe that the preference question had reached a stage that it might be dealt with by the domillions in conferences among themselves rather than by conference with British representatives. If the dominions first agreed as to what they were prepared to offer there would not be much banging and bolting and barring of doors.
