The people of Douglas are apprehensive that if peace is not reached there will probably be a battle at Nogales Sonora, where Federal troops and insurrectors are numerous. HORRIBLE ATROCITIES. TWO MEN BURNED. Mexico City. May 4. Two thousand rebels are threatening the capital. Famine conditions are prevailing. The country is more unsettled than ever. Independent bands of rebels are pillaging. Twenty-five Federals were killed at Magdalena. Horrible atrocities are reported from Southern California. The rebels are in full possession of Tecote and are killing everyone caught. Already five men have been shot and two burned. To American miners have been murdered in Sonora country.
