Vosper. Despite' the wet weather there was a good attendance of buyers, and, for the time of year, good prices were realised. Dairy cows, early calvers, made £6 10s to £lO, later do. £5 to £6 ss; very late and empty, £3 2s 6d to £4 15s; pedigree Jersey bull, 10>/ 2 guineas; pedigree Jersey cows, 18 to 20% guineas; grade Jersey heifers, £4 lfls to £5 2s fid; weaner heifers, 28s to 3(is; mare, £ls; jacks, £4 5s to £4 15s; store pigs, 20s to 27s fid; small pigs, 7s to 13s; plough, £7; sundries sold well. At the Haymarket on Saturday a good number of pigs were penned. Slips made 2s to 4s fld; weaners, 7s to 10s; stores, 15s to 1.95; small do., lis to 14s; porkers, 26s to 30s; sows, £2 2s; saddle and bridle realised £2 Ss; gig, £ll. At Urenui on Monday there was a good yarding. Weaners made 15s fid to 33s Cd; 18 months steers £3 Us; store cows, £2 to £3 ss; forward cows, £4 7s; cows and calves, £3 16s to £5 10s; springing heifers, £5 5s to £5 10s; heifers calved, £5 10s- fat heifers, £6; 2>/ 2 to 3 year steers, £4 IBs Gd; bulls, £3 17s (Id to £4 15s. On the same day [ sold the balance lof Mrs. McGuinness's stock without reserve. Two year steers made £4 14s; 2'/ 2 year steers, £5; 3 to 3>/ 2 year bullocks, £5 lis to £5 13s 6d; lambs, 3s 3d; 2 and 4 tooth ewes, 12s 2d; 0 tooth to f.f.m. ewes 6s fid; 2 'tooth wethers 10a 2d; rams 1 guinea. At Stony River on Wednesday the yards were full. There was a large attendance and competition was good f;r most lines. Weak calves made 12s; medium to good, 20s to 30s; a line of well-bred Jersey heifer calves made £3 17s 6d; 18 months to 2 years heifers in calf, £3 10s to £4 ss; £y., year do., £4 10s Gd; springing do., £5 tp £5 7s; working bullocks, £ls 10s per pair; store eows, .£'2 4s to £2 lis Cd; forward cows, £3 10s to £4 9s; fat cows, £5 tp, £5 5»; (bulls, £4 3s to £5 <Bs 6d. A quantity of household furniture, implements and sundries sold in fayor of buyers. The goodwill of the lease of the late Mr. Benjamin Cray's farm of 114 acres was sold to Mr. W. -Grant, of Puniho, at £BOO.
NEW ZEALAND U. & M. A. REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Stratford, report for the week ending 4th May.as follows: We sold to several buyers over 2000 lambs at 6s 3d to 7s H 140 1.8-20 months steers at 70s, another line of 55 at £3 12s (Id. A good line of weaners were sold at 30s, 120 2% to 3 year old Bteers at £4 17s 6d, a mice line, of forward co.ws at £4 18a. We expect a good yarding on Tuesday and hope to have a few outside buyers in attendance. Sale starts at 12 o'clock sharp. MATTHEWS & BENNETT'S REPORT. Messrs. Matthews & Dennett report that there was a fair entry of cattle in the Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Prices were about the same as late sales. Calves made from £1 2a to £1 10s; backward stores, £3 5s to £3 10s; forward stores, £3 15s to £4 6s; springers, £4 10s to £7; fat cows, £5 to £6 6s; cull ewes, 2s to 6s. ADDINGTON. , Christcharch, May 3. At Addington there were average entries of stock and a fair attendance. Store sheep-—Two-tooth ewes, 12s to 12s !)d; smaller, 9s 6d upwards; soundmouth, 7s <sd to fls lid; six and eighttooth (mostly from oversea), 8s to 9s; two and four-tooths, lis 3d; aged, 6s 6d; potters. 2s to 4s 6d; aged merinos, 2s Id; forward lambs. 8s to 8s 7d; average lots, (is 6d to 7s 6d; ewe lambs, 8s 6d to 9s 6d; culls, 3s to 4s; shorn Jambs, 5s 9d; medium wethers, 103 to 10s 7d; other*, fls 3d to fls Ad. Fat lambs—There were 5(540 taken by export buyers at 8s Id to 15s 9d; extra, 17s to 17s 7d; 348 by butchers, at lis 6d to 15s 7d; and 1396 were passed at 8s 6d to lis 6d, and a number of lots did not elicit a bid. Fat sheep.—Prime wethers. His 6d to 21s Od; lighter, lis 7d to 10s; extra prime ewes, to 25s fid; fair, 13s Od to 18s 3d; medium, lis to 13s; aged and light, (is to 10s fid. Fat cattle.—Steers, £7 15s to £l2 10s; heifers, £5 17s Gd to £9; and cows, £5 5s to £9 9s; equal to 25s to 29s for prime, 22s to 23s (id for medium; and 20s to 21s fid for cow and inferior beef per 1001b. Veal calves sold at 4s 6d to 455, and well-grown yearlings to £4 Ss. A North Island line of steers made £lO to £l2 10s. Store cattle—Yearlings, 335; 15 to 18 months, £2 8s to £2 10s; two-year stores, £3 16s to £4; three-year heifers, £4 IBs; and dry cows, 30> to £4 10s. ■There was a good sale for dairy cows fit £4 to £lO ss. Pigs.—Choppers sold up to 00b, and extra to £5 ss; heavy baconers, 45s to 50s; lighter, 35s to 42s'(id (equal to 3%d to 4d per lb); large porkers, 2Ss to 325, and lighter 22s to 2fis (equal to 4>/id to 4'/ 2 d per lib). May 3. At rSurnside 159 fat cattle were yarded. The sales opened at a "light advance on last week's rates, but as it progressed, prices receded to previous values. The bulk of the .yarding consisted of medium quality bullocks, with odd pens of very prime bullocks, £ll to £l2 10s; extra, j to £l3 10s; medium. £8 10s to £lO I 10s; best cows and heifers. £7 10s to .CD 10«: medium. £5 10s to £6 15s. I Eat sheep: There was a moderate yarding of 2(>o(i. Owing to last week's record yarding most butchers had, bought an extra supply. Good wethers held their own, but ewes declined by Is to Is fid, except for really choice pens. Rest wethers, 18s to 20s; extra to 245: medium, 15s to 17s; light, 13s Od to 148 3d; best

WANG'AXUI. Messrs. Dalgety & Co., Ltd., report:— At our VV'finganui sale on Wednesday we had a heavy yarding, consisting of 6!)0 cattle and 1713 sheep, and we have to report a very dull sale, and a further allround drop in prices. We yarded several good lines in steers and fat and forward cows, on account of Mr. H. V. iSammond, all of which were passed at auction, though wi> eventually succeeded in disposing of all the cows, and all except one line of bullocks. Sheep were very dull of fi'.ilc, and prices were in favor of buyers. Altogether we sold 308 cattle and fi33 sheep.
