Won by two lengths. Maiden Handicap Hurdles.— Explosion 1, Denbies 2, Dhudien 3. Also started: Celtic, Excalibur, Dinkum. Won by twenty lengths. The contracts have been let by the Stratford Racing Club for the new stewards' stand and for extending the present grandstand, which will practically be doubled in capacity. The successful tenderers are Messrs Grayling and Cliff, of New Plymouth, who secured both jobs.
