TRAMS FOR PALMERSTON

STORAGE BATTERY CARS IN VIEW. Palmerston North, May 1. Interviewed to-day on the tram question th" Mayor (Mr. J. A. Nash) said that it vas impossible to give any definite iir'irmation until he had received 11 reply from the Beach Company of Amerier. This firm was now offering to give -timates for an installation ot the Edison storage battery system, and, as soon as this came to hand, he would submit it to the council for consideration. and he would endeavor to let the ratepayers have an opportunity of expressing their views on the question. He felt sure that the council would facilitate matters as much as possible, particularly since there could be no doubt that there was a very strong desire on the part of many ratepayers to have trams installed in Palmerston at an early date.
