DEPUTATIONS AT CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Replying to deputations, the Hon. J. A. Miller informed the Canterbury Fruitgrowers' Association that he would consider charging only a nominal rate on the railways for the carriage of, fruit cases "after the first 100 miles, which would be free. He expressed his concurrence with the representations of a deputation from the Casual Railway Employees' Union regarding the prompt payment of accident pay. To another deputation be stated that personally lie would like to see the Municipal Corporations Act amended to provide for three years' lease of office by mayors anil councillors.
