ANNUAL RETURNS. At the Taranaki County Council meeting yesterday, the clerk, Mr. R. Ellis, submitted a statement of receipts and expenditure in the various ridings for the year ending March 31, showing the position to be as follows: In the Moa riding, the principal re« ceipts were: Rates £2451 13s lid, subsidy £3OB 3s 2d, dog tax £136 7s 6d, traffic levy £BB 2s 7d, licenses £33, and rents £ll3 14s 6d. The expenditure ineluded £2243 17s 4d for roads, bridges £2l 15s Id, royalty £lO3 14s 6d, share of administration expenses £436 13s 7'd. The overdraft had decreased from £644 2s 9d on April 1, 1010, to £355 Us 9d on March 31, 1911. In the Waitara riding, the rates collected amounted to £1744 7s 4d, reimbursement on Waiwakaiho weir £153 13s lid, subsidy £392 19s lOd, dog tax £BB 17s 6d. The expenditure on roads was £1666 18s fld, bridges £IBO 13s 2d, Waiwakaiho weir and bridge £315 16s Bd, Egmont Toad overdraft £99 4s lOd, royalty £33 4s 3d, and share of administration expenses £213 4s. The overdraft had increased from £345 17s lid on April 1, 1910, to £465 5s 9d on March 31, 1911.
In the Omata riding, the rates amounted to £IO9O 6s, separate rate £364 5s 9d, subsidy £259 18s 3d, dog tax £2O 7s 6d, Omata Road Board £6O Rs 4d, Barrett Road Board £7O 4s 9d, Hurford Road Board £l3 19s Bd, licenses £29, poundage £3. The expenditure on roads was £933 5s sd, royalty £l7 10s 3<l, share of administration expenses £l2l 3s lOd. The overdraft had been reduced from £B4B lfis 8d on April 1, 1910. to £l2l 3s lOd on March 31, 1911. In the Okato riding, rates amounted to £869 4s 4d, special rates £452 6s 2d, subsidy £ll2 lis Id, dog tax £32 ss. licenses £32 10s, and tolls £BO3 13s Kid. The expenditure included roads £lOls 2s 4d, tolls collection £lsl 8 S 3d, land required in connection with the Oakura deviation £37, administration expenses £172 4s Bd. The overdraft had been reduced from £IO7B 3s Id to £139 18s Id. Hurworth Tiding received £538 3s lOd in rates and £250 in subsidy, transfer from Eliot loan £1066 4s *Bd, traffic levy £25 19s lid. The expenditure on roads amounted to £827 2s 3d. Franklev culvert, £S6 6s 6d, lighting roads £4B 15s. and administration expenses £133 8s Bd. The overdraft was reduced from £940 10s 5d on April 1, 1910, to £2OO 18s 2d on March 31. 1911. The total overdraft of the ridings was £I22S 17s 7d. as against £3866 10s lOd twelve months ago.
