CARD-SHARPERS CAUGHT

The Russian Count Ostrovsky, alias Count Crankoff, a card sharper and international hotel thief, has been arrested in the Riviera. His biggest haul was £SOOO worth of jewellery in Berlin, for which he suffered a long imprisonment. Berlin, April 30. The capture at Calcutta of the socalled Baron Vonkoeniz, head of an international gang of card-sharpers, has led to a request for his extradition. His real name is Stallum, and hi.s dupes, or alleged accomplices, included Count Giesbert Wolffmettornich, who died in a hospital recently after his arrest on a charge of card-sharping.
