POST OFFICE BURGLARY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Taihape, Saturday. News was received this morning of a burglary of the Manunui Post Office, early yesterday morning. The safe was blown open and the cash box taken, containing £132 in gold and notes, also .£IOO unpaid money orders. The office was safely locked at 8.30 on the previous evening, and the following morning ing was found open, the safe lying on its side, and the contents scattered about. A quantity of clay and sacking near had evidently been used to deaden the explosion. There is no sign of the robbers. OPIUM-SMOKING. Wellington, Saturday. Loo Yong-was fined £ls for opiumsmoking and for having opium in his possession. HOSPITALS CONFERENCE. Wellington, Saturday. The conference of Hospital and Charit-1 Able Aid Boards called for June 14 has) been postponed until the 27th. ' CENSUS RETURNS. Auckland, Saturday.
