THE NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Draughts Association was held tonight. Mr. R. Caldow, the president, occupied the chair, and 25 members were present. Mr. Hilliker, hon. secretary of the Association executive, said the Auckland committee had not sent any nc count of moneys it had deceived and ex. perilled. They could do nothing far as the treasurer's report was ' concerned. The chairman said the Anc.kla.nd committee would pay out prize money, low expenses, and would have no balance. He believed there wag £25 in {he bank to the credit of the New Zealand Association, and this might be added to from time to time to form a prize fund. It was decided that the, next Ncv Zealand championship meeting be 1v ' I at Wellington under the auspices of th«i Working Men's Club's Draughts Club. Keenan were added to the permanent executive in place of Messrs Montgomery and Butterfield, retired. Keen discussion took place on a motion that further championships be decided on the all-round system, one point to be given not for fach game but for each round. Messrs Penman and Boreham strongly condemned the all-round system, and declared they would not play under it. The motion was withdrawn. Eventually it was decided that the question be left lor the Association executive to decide in consultation with the Wellington club. A motion that only members of draughts clubs be allowed to compete ■ for the championship was lost by a hrr* majority. The following officers were elected:— President, the president of the Wellington Working Men's Club's Draughts Club; vice-presidents, the vice-presidents of above club and Mr. Brownlee. The prizes won at the recent tournament were presented during the evening.
