ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
CHILDREN FATALLY BURNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. A child, four years of age, a daughter of Mrs. Faulbaum, was having tea when the sleeve of her dress caught fire from a lighted candle. The flames were quickly extinguished, but the child was badly burned, and death ensued from shock. Thames, Last Night. A child,22 2 years old, daughter of Horace Stone, Hauraki Plains, met with an accident which resulted in death. The child was sitting on a chair near the fire, when her clothes became ignited, and she received injuries of a serious nature, and shortly afterwards succumbed to the shock. A DROWNING ACCIDENT. Local relatives have received news of the death of William Vallilley, contractor, of Te Kowhai. Deceased was with a companion named Storey, proceeding in a steam launch from Whatawhata to Ngaruawahia, and it is assumed that by accident Vallilley fell overboard. Storey, who was attending to the engine, jumped overboard after his companion, who, however, seized him by the throat, compelling him, in self-defence, to clamber aboard again. The body lias not yet been found.
