SATURDAY COMPETITION'. ' A FORWARD MOVE. A meeting of delegates to the Saturday Football Association was held in the Town Hall last night, when there were present: Messrs J. D. Sole (president), in the chair, and the following delegates: Messrs R. L. Mclsaac . Service), G. Hawkins (Warehouse), and A. C. Thompson (Rovers), the secretary. An intimation was received from Okato and Tariki club* !hat they intended entering teams, ami both were admitted to the Association. Mr. J. Garcia, the Okato delegate, then took his seat. Mr. Sole s; :ted that the main business of tin- Hireling was to discuss the question of alliliating with the Taranaki Rugby Union. Mr. McLeod, a member of the Management Committee of the Rugby Union, attended, and explained the position. lie stated that the Union recognised that the Saturday half-holiday was coming, and would encourage Saturday football! By affiliating with the Union" Saturday football would be raised in status, which would l>e greatly to the advantage of the players, for they would thus have a "say" in the play-off for the Taranaki championship, and would also have an opportunity of getting in the reps. It was pointed out that there would be four teams playing on Saturdays, and possibly five or six, , Other matters of detail were discussed, and a suggestion was made that delegates should attend the Rugby Union meeting at Stratford to-night (Thursday), which Mr. McLeod considered a good suggestion. After being thanked for his attendance, Mr. McLeod withdrew. Mr. Mclsaacs stated that Civil Service would be unable to enter a team. Two teams were, however, certain from Xcw Plymouth, viz.. Star and Rovers, and it was considered another might be raised.

Desultory discussion ensued as to minor details, and it was resolved that this Association approach the Taranaki Rugby Union re affiliation, and that two delegates, Messrs Sole and Garcia, wait on the Taranaki Rugby Union Management Committee on Thursday night." The meeting then adjourned till Saturday, at 7.30 p.m., to receive the delegates' report.
