AN AUCKLAND EXHIBITION

GREAT INTERNATIONAL FAIR,

TO ECLIPSE ALL PREVIOUS EFFORTS.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Lust Night. To hold an international fajr in Auckland two years hence, an exhibition bigger than any yet held in New Zealand, is the hope and ambition of certain leading citizens of this city. Already; the Chamber of Commerce, backed by; the Provincial Industrial Association, has gone into the matter, and the president of the former institution, Mr. Leo. Myers, interviewed to-day, outlined an interesting scheme, indicating on what lines he thinks the exposition should be run.

Mr. Myers said the council of th« Chamber of Commerce felt that the tima had now arrived when another exhibition should be held in Auckland. It wafl thirteen years ago since the last exhibfc. tion ,took place in the metropolitan grounds. The venture had proved a big success. The proposal to hold anothes exhibition in Auckland in the near f» ture had met with universal approval, It seemed to be generally recognised amongst the business men of the city, that nothing would more admirably] serve to advertise the progress of Auck« land and the potentialities of New Zealand in general and Auckland provmc* in particular, than an international fail) to be held in two or three years' time. The first suggestion had been to maljJß the exhibition coincident with the com* pletion of the Panama Canal-, and thu» manifest New Zealand's interest in tb«t culmination of one of the most ambitious engineering schemes the world has ever witnessed, and one that it" waa generally believed would play no unimportant part in the future commercial development of this Dominion. Furthea consideration, however, had convinced many of those interested that the more opportune time would be 1913, or about two years hence; a period, sufficiently long from the inception of" the scheme to enable its sponsors to do justice to it. The educational value of such an exhibition, Mr. Myers pointed out, could not be over-estimated.
