THE MOROCCAN REBELLION
REBELS BEATEN AT FEZ. By Cable—Pi-tob Association—Copyright Tangie.', April 25. Eight hundred Hayaina auxiliaries who were favorable to the Sultan and brought food, entered Fez on April 18. Two thousand attackers were repulsed on the 19th, and Bremond successfully attacked the rebels on the 22nd. A FRENCH DECLARATION. TRIBAL OFFER OF ASSISTANCE DECLINED. Received 20, 8.50 p.m. Tangier, April 26. The Aledjumma tribe on April 17 offered to join Mulai Hand if their Governor were changed. The offer was rejected, hence the fierce attack on the 19th. The acceptance of the offer would enable Major Bremond ( to traverse their territory and enter Fez.
M. Monier, in a proclamation to the tribes, states that France does not intend to occupy fresh territories, but only wishes to support the Shereefian army in order to relieve the foreigners in dan ger, and to. re-establish order under tire Sultan's authority. If the rebellion ceases, France would stay the march of her troops, otherwise the troops would be forced to pacify the country and severally punish the authors of the disturbances.
