CENSUS RETURNS
WHICH IS OUR FIFTH CITY? By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, Last Night. In view of the rival claims to the honor of being in point of population the fifth city in the Dominion, the local papers are publishing comparative figures. The Southland Times shows that, reckoning in the suburbs, which are really a part of the town, Invercargill's total population is 1(5.00!). The radius covered and represented by these figures is not so large as those embraced by towns who challenge Invercargill in tills matter, and it is therefore claimed that Invercargill is easily in front. GIUULDINE. Timaru, Last Night. The population of the Geraldine eountv is 805!). including the boroughs of Geraldine (04.')) and Tcmuka (1741). The total in the previous census was 5()"27.
