THE FEDERAL REFERFNDA

FINAL RALLIES LAST NIGHT. THE POLLING TO-DAY. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received 25, 11.15 p.m. Sydney, April 25. The final referenda rallies were held to-night. The campaign has been strenuous and fervid, and it is difficult to forecast the result, but the general feeling is that which ever way it goes the majority will not be large. Probably a considerably bigger proportion than at election time, particularly of women, will abstain from polling, including a section of Laborites, who, while opposed to the lessening of the powers possessed by the States, are not prepared to throw their weight in the opposite scale. As usual, Labor is excellently organised and confident. The Liberals have worked extremely hard and believe that, with the majority of the newspapers on their side, they will be able to carry the day against the referenda.
