In connection with Fogwcll's cable from New Zealand challenging him to row for the championship of Australia in June, l'earce states that he intends to row Amst for the world's championship first, but Fogwcll can have a race afterwards. FOGWELL CHALLENGES PEAHCE. Palmerston N., Monday. Mr. G. Scifert, Fogwell's principal backer, has returned from Akaroa. He is very pleased with Fogwell's performance against Whclch on Easter Monday. As a°result of Fogwcll's victory Mr. Seifert has cabled to Sydney, on the former's behalf, offering to increase the wager in connection with the challenge to row the winner of the Pearce v. Kemp race. Fogwell challenged the winner of this race to row for £2OO a-side, and he deposited £25 to bind the match. He is now willing to make the wager £3OO a-side, and a cable to that effect was sent to Sydney from Palmerston North this morning.
