SOUTHERN MARKETS. ADDJN'GTON. At Addington there were fairly large entries of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle showed little or no change in values. Store sheep were dull of sale, in consequence of the unsatisfactory outlook for feed for the winter. Fat lambs were not equal to last week's rates, and prime fat sheep were firm, whilst others were easier. Store cattle were dull of sale, but dairy cows were in keen demand. Pigs were in moderate demand. Store sheep—Two-tooth crossbred ewes to 12s lid, 4, 6 ami 8-toot.h to. 12s 4d. sound-mouthed Ss to lis (id, aged 2s to 3s 3d, inferior and small halfbreds Ss 6d to 9s 6d, lambs to <ss (id. Oversea sheep sold as follows: Rood wethers 12s, others 5s fid to 7s Od, 2-tooth ewes its fid, 0 and 8-tooth ewes 7s 9d. sound-mouth 4s 94 to 7s sd. There was an entry of (1075 lambs, as | against 0903 last week. The quality was not equal to last weeks' supply, and buyers were not competing so freely, prices being somewhat easier. There were 5866 taken for freezing at 10s to 15s 4d; 416 by butchers at lis 2d to 14s sd, and one special line at 16s; and 393 were passed, at 10s 9d to 14s. Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers *o 20s Id, prime las Gd to 17s fld,.lighter 12- Id • to 15s, prime ewes 12s to 10s, a few extra to 17s Id, medium fls fid to lis 6d, aged, ' 5s 7d to 9s, merino ewes 4s 3d to fis lid. There were 285 head of fat cattle penned, and the quality was of fair average. Steers made £7 7s Od to £ll, some extra good quality to £l4, heifers £5 17s fid to £<) 10s, cows £5 to £lO 5s (equal to 25s to 29s Od for prime, medium 22s to 23s 6d. cow and inferior 20s to •21s 6d per 1001b). Veal calves were not as numerous as usual and made from 4s 6d to 52s fld, and extra to £4 ss. A medium entry of store cattle met with a dull sale, yearlings making 275. I's to 18-months 37s to 40s, 2-year steers . £4 4s, three-year steers £5 7s Od to '£6 7s Od, dry cows 30s'to £3-ss. Dairy cows were in keen demand at £3 10s to £9, extra to £ll ss. Pigs—There was a good entry of baconers and porkers, but they were not .in much demand, and the sale was consequently dull. Choppers sold up to £4, heavy baconers 47s to 555, lighter 37s to 45s (equal to 4d per lb); large porkers 28s to 325, lighter 22s to 27s (equal to 4d and 4y 4 d per lb). Store pigs were also dull of sale, the larger sorts making 16s to 20s, smaller Ss to 14s, weaners 3s to 6s.

BURNSIDE. At Burnside 142 fat cattle were yarded. In consequence of the short supply, prices showed an advance of 10s per head on last week's rates. Best bullocks £ll to £l2 10s, extra to £l4, medium £9 to £ll, best heifers to £9 10s. Fat sheep—33ls penned, consisting principally of ewes, with a few pens of good wethers. Prime ewes and heavy wethers were a shade firmer, while inferior sorts were on a par with last week's rates. A number of pens were secured by graziers. Best wetliers 19s to 20s 6d, extra 245, medium 15s fid to 16s fid, inferior 12s Od. to 14s Od, best ewes 17s (id to 20s Cd, medium 13s to 15s, inferior to lis. Fat lambs—2l9B yarded of good qual-' ity. Lambs sold at Inst week's prices. Best 12s Gd to 14s !)d, extra to 17s 9d, medium 9s to lis. WAXGANUI. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report:—At our Wanganui sale we had a small yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle, and we have to report a dull sale, the bulk of the yarding being passed at auction. We quitted most of the sheep afterwards, but the bulk of the cattle went out unsold. We quote: Two-tooth wethers 12s 3d, aged ewes 4s, 15-month steers £3, 18-month dairy heifers £2 12s, store cows £2 5s Od to £3 fis Od, dairy cows £4 17s to £0 10s, smalt weaners 10s to 20s Od, weancr heifers (Jersey cross) £1 17s (id to £1 ISs Od. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltd.. report on their sale at Johnsonville on April 19. A small entry of sheep, all of inferior quality, sold readily, as also did a fair entry of good quality bullocks, at the following quotations:— (iood bullocks £lO 5s to £ll, others £9 12s 0(1 to £lO, best wethers 17s Id to 17s 7d, light wethers lfis lo 16s fid, medium ewes 13s Id to 14s Id. light ewes 12s fid to 13s lambs 12s 7d to 13s lid, others 10s fid to 12s. MASTERTON. Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report on their Masterton sale as follows:—The attendance was fair, but buyers were not too prominent, and although business at auction was, on the whole, satisfactory, the prices recorded were easier than anticipated after the recent rain. Sonic good wetliers were offered, but only half Die entry changed hands at prices or.mil to those of the previous week. Lambs were well competed for. and all those yarded were disposed of. Quotations: Two-tooth wethers 12s (id to 13-. and Us 2d for smaller shoe]); woolly lambs (is lo 7s fid, and Ss Od for an extra sood lot: shorn lambs (in good condition) 7s lo 7s 3d. cull ewes 7s. boilers 4s Id.
