PETROLEUM NEWS
TARANAKI COMPANY. Oil is flowing continuously between the casings of No. 3 bore of the Taranaki Petroleum Company at an average of eight to nine barrels a day. The well is now down to a depth of between 3750 and 3700 feet, and during the early hours of yesterday morning there wag another vigorous blow-out, oil being forced from the bottom of the bore and flooding the interior of the derrick. When the men resumed work, four barrels of oil were collected inside the derrick. During yesterday the oil flowed strongly in the 4-inch casing on two occasions, coming from the bottom of the bore. The men were working with their clothes saturated with oil. There is nothing fresh to report from Xo. 2, which continues to flow as usual, and there are no new developments at Ao. 5. At a directors' meeting last night some 500 preference shares were allotted. Buy preference scares at onoe. They are a perfectly safe and very promising investment, and me that may be recommended with confidence. Send to Walter Bewley, New Plymouth.—Advt.
