(From Our Own Correspondent). The new Borough Council consists of Messrs. W. Birdling, W. Black, F. I. Brabant, A. Klenner, H. Langman, J. Rattenbury, and G. V. Tate. The only alteration is that Mr. H. Langman takes Mr. H. Spurdle's seat, the latter having decided not to stand. Mr. Jenkins resumes his place as Mayor. Harbor matters are of more local interest than those pertaining to the borough, as seven nominations have been received for the six seats. Mr. Stubbs had intended to stand, but, unfortunately, was called away on business to Wanganui and Palmerston, and omitted to send in his nomination prior to leaving. Mr. Hatrick would also have been a candidate, but could not get his nomination through in time. The following are nominated: William Birdling, by J. Little and J. F. Loveridge; Richard T. Hicks, bv D. Alexander, G. S. Wood, E. Rolfe, and J. H. Allen; James Hine, jun., by G. Pearce, H. Joll, 11. McKenzie. J. C. Davidson,.H. Chappell, and R. T. Ford; Walter F. Jenkins, by G. Bleaklcy, D. Elliot, J. F. Loveridge, and P. Surrey; William F. Ncwbery, by E. Cole, W. J. Clare, R. F. Langman,.W. J. B. Paton; James Rattenbury, by J. Little and F. H. Sampson; Joseph' H. Smith, by W. Honnor, S. Turnbull, S. Elliot, S. Topliss, S. G. Fraser, E. Cole, W. F. Newbery, and Jas. Rattenbury. The Ivy Assemblies will be run this season in'aid of the funds of the Clifton ■ Hall and Fire Brigade.
