ANNUAL CONFERENCE. i] By Telegraph.—Press Association. [ I Christchurch, Saturday Night. J The Trades Labor Councils and Federation of Labor Conference opened to-day. Mr. J. Reardon (Wellington) was elected r president, and Mr. ,1. Young (Christ- Fj church) secretary of the Conference, it was resolved that the proceedings, except * the committee work, be open to the public and the Press. A deputation from the Ironmasters' Association re the tariff on importations will be received on Tuesday. A sub-committee was set up to deal with a Labor paper. The Executive's annual report stated that the presentation to Mr. E. Tregear of an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns to Mrs. Tregear would be made on Thursday. The report alsodealt with various matters that arose during the year, and it was stated that efforts to effect an amalgamation with the Miners' Federation of Labor had been unsuccessful. ======^^^=
