THE HOLIDAY.
SOME OF THE ATTRACTIONS. On Easter, Monday, the holiday seeker should find very little difficulty in spending a pleasant day, provided tbu weather conditions are favorable, as there are varied attractions set down for that day. The sea beach will probably prove irresistible to many, EASTER SPORTS. Ono of the finest programmes of sports ever arranged for a New Plymouth meeting is set down for competition in the Recreation Grounds on Monday. All the events have drawn record fields in the running, cycling, and axemen's events. In the latter the New Plymouth public will have the opportunity of seeing some of Taranaki's foremost sawyers and axemen in keen rivalry. The arrangements for the conduct of the meeting are in capable hands, and everything will be carried out as it should be. There should be a huge attendance, as suitable train arrangements have been made for the country visitors. The evening train hag been delayed to leave New Plymouth at 5.32. GOLF TOURNAMENT. The golf tournament, which commences to-day at the Ngamotu links, will be continued on Monday. The arrangements are referred to elsewhere in this issue. BOWLING. All of the local bowling clubs have matches on Monday. Fitzroy plays, at home, meeting Hawera. ■ West End journeys to Eltham, and New Plymouth* to Inglewood. LAWN TENNIS. The Park Tennis and Croquet Club will wind up the season on Easter Monday. The committee has decided to open the courts throughout the holidays from noon each day. The work of topdressing and re-sowing the lawns is to be started right away, and by getting to work thus early it is hoped to have the playing area in first-class order for next season's play. RIFLE SHOOTING. The Taranaki Guards journey to Stratford to fire an eight-man match against the local rifle club. 1 RACES. The races down the line will undoubtedly prove attractive to the sportloving public. A special train will.leave New Plymouth at 6.30 a.m., leaving on the return journey at 5.30 p.m. THE EVENING ENTERTAINMENTS. The superb biograph pictures are to the fore with a holiday change of programme, commencing to-night and continuing on Monday night. Every picture shown will be a gem of its kind. The fine Shakesperian drama, "Twelfth Night," and pictures of the ceremony of the opening of the British Parliament by King George, are among the films. In the Brougham Street Hall another °f the popular "Happy Hours" assemblies will be held, and excellent music and supper are among the features of the arrangements. DOWN THE COAST. The Rahotu Hall committee has arranged a monster picnic on the beach in aid of the hall funds, and the function will conclude with a dance in the hall in the evening. At Okato in the evening Captain Young will deliver a lecture, as arranged by the Taranaki Agricultural Society. AT WANGANUI. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wanganui, Last Night. The holiday passed off very quietly to-day in good weather. The Wanganui Tennis Association commenced its annual tournament. There are good entries. The first rounds of the various competitions were proceeded with.
