WAITARA NEWS

HARBOR BOARD. (From our Own Correspondent). The adjourned annual meeting was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs. Stubbs (Chairman), W. T. Jennings, M.P., Chappell, Spurdle, and Jenkins. Messrs. \V. R. Wilson and W. Foreman apologised for absence. | The annual balance-sheet was read and adopted. Several applications for surrender of old leases, with a view to taking up renewable leases, were granted. The Railway Department notified the Board that it could not recognise the claim for £4 18s for timber shortlanded from New Plymouth, stating that the timber had been tallied into trucks at New Plymouth, and the Department was not responsible for short delivery at private sidings. The secretary further said he had made a claim for a further short delivery in March, but the Department had not given the Union Co. a receipt, and a claim had now been made on the Union Co. —It was decided to ask the Traffic Manager to call ou the secretary when next m Waitara. I Messrs. W. M. Ballantyne and Co. asked if the Board could grant them a site for the purpose of erecting a powder 1 magazine.—The chairman reported hav-l ing pointed out a site to the representative of the firm, who was satisfied! with it, but a permit from the Borough Council was necessary.—Referred to the i chairman of the Board and the Mayor. l Mr. L. IT. Sampson applied for andi was granted a month's leave of absence to undergo bath treatment at the Roto- 1 rua baths for rheumatism. I

Accounts amounting to £433 2s 8d were passed for payment. In referring to the state of the bar, the chairman went into the back history of the Board. He stated that the work of improving the entrance in such a way as .to put it into a workable condition I was very necessary, but before doing so it would be necessary to ask the Gov-| ernnient to remit the amounts due on the old loan. It would be necessary I to have an up-to-date dredge with a suction pump. He thought very strong! repiesentations should be made to the Government to forego the advances. 'Mr. Jennings said that it would be absolutely necessary to seriously con- | aider the matter of the bar, and that it would, be necessary to make strong , representations to the Colonial Treasurer to be relieved of the incubus, and so permit the Board to borrow. In reply to Mr. Spurdle, the chairman j said that a dredge costing possibly £15,000 would be required. | The secretary suggested that a sand pump might be erected on the north wall, putting it on a tramway so as to be movable. He thought such work could be done out of the Board's revenue. It would be necessary to get expert opinion as to whether it could be done with the long suction that' would be required. The chairman said that as it was the last meeting of the present Board, ho would like to express his thanks for the able assistance given to him by members in carrying out the Board's work. He would also like to pay a tribute to the secretary and staff.

CURED HS T LESS THAN A WEEK. I "My little daughter suffered for six | months from a bad and obstinate sore behind the ear, and nothing had any [healing effect upon it, although I tried many ointments. I then used Rexona Ointment, which evidently contains'curative properties not found in others, for after the first application the sore showed signs of healing, and after a few applications it disappeared altogether, leaving a clear skin underneath. Rexona cured this six. months' old sore in less than a week," writes Mrs.- John MacDonald, 1 Harold-street, Erskineville, N.S.W. Rexona, me new skin remedy, is sold in trianguiar pots at Is Cd and 3s. Obtainable at Bullock and Johnston's.
