THE TAUNTON SHIELD. The Taranaki Guards held two competitions at the Rewa Rewa range yesterday. ior the Taunton Shield, seven shots each at 200, 500, and COO yards, there was some good shooting. Corporal Bruce, off scratch, registered the fine score of 102, including a passible at 200 yards. Sergeant Evans scored 101, and Corporal Johnson made 100, including a possible at 500 yards. GUARDS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. The Guards championship belt was also competed for. Seven shots were fired at 200. 500, (500. 700, 800, 900. and 1000 yards. The winner was Private Nicholls, for the second year in succession. His score was 225, just four ahead of Sergeant Evans and Corporal Bruce. Some of the men had to shoot at the last range in failing light. Scores:—
