An Ottawa cablegram states that Mr. Clifton Sifton may be appointed High Commissioner in London to succeed Lord Strathcona. Mr. Sifton is an exMinister who has broken from his party on the subject of the reciprocity agreement. [A cablegram received after midnight from Ottawa denies the report.l An old Taranaki boy, Mr. John Wilkinson, father of Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, of Kltham, is repaying Taranaki a visit after an absence of thirty-five years, during which time he has resided in many parts of the world. Mr. Wilkinson was a well-known Native interpreter here in the sixties.
