NEWTON KING'S REPORT. At Rahotu on Tuesday there was a fair yarding, most lines selling at the hammer. Weaners made 20s to 335; yearling to 15-month heifers, £2 to £2 8s Od; store cows, '£3 to £3 10s; forward "cows, £4 to £4 10s; fat cows, £4 17s 0d to £0 2s Od; springing cows, £5 7s to £0 2s Od; bulls, £5 2s to £O. On the same day 1 held a clearing sale at Toko on account of Mr. 11. Hart, when there was a good attendance, with good demand and satisfactory prices were realised. Early ealvers made £0 10s to £8 7s Od; later do, £3 10s to £0; heifers in calf, £4 12s Od to £5 ss; weaners, 10s; stack of oaten sheaf, £l2 10s; hay, £9; jack, £2 us; sows, £1 15s; sundries sold at usual rates. At Waiwakaiho on Thursday weaners made 25s to 375; small do., 12s Od to 17s Od; store cows, £2 0s to £3 12s Od; forward cows, £4; heifers in calf, £3 10s to £4 2s Od; fat cows, £4 17s Od; springing cows, up to £7; bulls, £2 lis to £3 7s Od. NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MER-CANTILE-AGENCY C'O.'S REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch,. ' report:— ' On Tuesday last, 11th inst., we held our fortnightly cattle sale in our Stratford yards, and were again well supported with a yarding of 772 head, of cattle, and although prices were somewhat easier for grown cattle, weaners realised prices considerably better than anticipated. We sold 355 head at prices ranging as follows:—Weaners, from 20s to 335, for good lines. A nice line ot Jersey-llolstein weaner heifers made up to 455, and also a .nice lin-• of weaner Jersey heifers made 495. Sixteen-month steers, from £3 0s to £3 10s; cows, close to profit, £0 to £0 15s; store cows, S3s to 90s; two-year old heifers in calf, £3 4s to, £3 18s; fat and forI ward cows, light; 90s; niediiuji weight, up to 110s; bulls, light, 475, heavy 80s to 100s. Notwithstanding the fact that w'e have approached our opponents in every reasonable way to either start their sale earlier or allow us to sell first every alternative sale, or draw for position of selling as is done in all other centres, we are compelled by the wishes of our numerous clients who have approached us with the request.that we commence our sale earlier, to start our ■ .sales in future at 1)2.30 p.m. sharp. We trust that clients will yard their stock early so as to allow us to start the sale at the advertised time. Our uext cattle sale will be held in pur Stratford yards on Tuesday, 25th inst., at 12.30* p.m. sharp, when we anticipate offering several good lines of. grown cattle without reserve. Fair two-tooth ewes made 12s to'l3? 3d, inferior Ds to 10s 9d, four and sixtooth lis to 12s 3d, four-tooth (good) 10s Od to lis Id, mixed ages 8s to 9s Gd, low conditioned lines 0s to 7s, and ganiinies. 2s Loss. In lambs, one excep tionally good line made 10s 7d, the next highest being 8s JO.; good sorts made 8s to 8s Od, medium Gs to 7s, small Od to 5a Od, and calls from'2s Od upwards. Fat Cattle.—Steers made £7 12s Gd to £l3 ss, heifers £5 to £-10 55,. and dry. cows £5. Os to £9 17s Od. Best steer beef made 25s to 29s Od, medium 22s to 23s Od, and cow and inferior beef 20s to 21s Gd per 1001b. There was a; good entry of fat calves, and the usual demand. Prices ranged from 4s Od to 575, according to size and condition. Store Cattle.—Fifteen to eighteenmonths sorts made 28s Gd to 3Gs, twoyear steers ■£3 Gs to £3 18s, two-year heifers £3 lo £3 Gs, extra to £4, threeyear steers £ 5 ss, three-year heifers £3 17s Od, dry cows to £4 15s. Dairy cows from £4 10s to £9 10s. Pigs.—Choppers made to 555, heavy haeoners 45s .to 525, and lighter sorts 35s to 40s, equal to 3%d to 4d per lb. the heaviest porkers made 27s Od to 325, and lighter sorts 20s to 255, equal to 4Yid to 4y,d per lb. Store pigs were in small demand, medium kinds realising 14s to 18s, small Gs to 13s, and weaners 2s Od to 5s 6d. JOI-INSONVILLE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams report on their Jobnsonville sale, as follows: ■We offered a heavy yarding of prime bullocks and sheep, which sold readily at late rates. Prime heavy bullocks, £9 12s Od to £11; one pen of extra prime. £ll ss; vealers, 35s to £2 2s; good wethers, 10s; prime ewes, 15s Od; good ewes, 14s to 14s Od; shorn wethers, 13s to 13s 9d; prime shorn lambs, 10s Od to lis: woolly, lis to lis Sd; prime, 9s Gd to 10s. BURNSIDE. Dunedin, April 12. Best bullocks made £lO 10s to £l2, extra to £l4, medium weights £S 10s to £lO 10s, light £7 to £B. Fat Sheep.—Best wethers 19s to 21s. extra to 24s 3d. medium quality 10s fid to 18s fid, light and inferior 14s to 15s Gd. flood trade ewe.s realised Is to Is Od more than last week, top quotations making up to 10s. fair average ewes 15s to 10s. medium lis Od lo 12s Od. inferior 7s to Bs. Fat Lambs.—P>est quality brought 12s Od to 1-ls. a. few extra good 15s, and lines unsuitable for export or trade purposes 8s Od to 10s Gd.
