SUMMARY AND FORECAST^. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast:— A westerly storm area has passed in the south', with westerly and southerly gales in and southward of Cook Strait during the'night, but winds have moderated to-day. Rain has fallen in parts, especially on the west coast. High pressure has continued in the north. Heavy teas have been experienced on the west coast. Present indications ate for variable winds, generally northerlies and westerlies, increasing shortly southward «f- New Plymouth and Napier. Hazy and cTondy weather will probably pre•rail, and showery in parts, especially on the West Coast and the southern disfricts of the South Island. The borometer will probably fall slowly in the north, and steadily in the south.
