DISEASED POTATOES
TO BE DESTROYED. Yesterday morning Mr. H. Palethorpe, Fruit Inspector, of Wellington, acting under instructions from Mr. T. W. Kirk,' arrived in New Plymouth by the 10.45 a.m. train from Inglewood. In company! with Mr. Munro, Stock Inspector, he visited the railway goods sheds and other places where the diseased potatoes from Canterbury and Otago are held' practically under confiscation. To-day definite arrangements will be made for' the destruction of the consignment of 151) sacks. The actual method to be employed is not yet known, but the consignment will probably be taken' well out to sea by either tiie "Paritutu"| or the "Thomas King," and sunk many! fathoms deep, where there is no danger' of the worm being spread. I It is understood that the inspector arrived at Inglewood on Saturday night,' and supervised the destruction, by means of burial, of the Inglewood cargo.
