NEW JERSEY BLOOD

A STRATFORD IMPORTATION. Mr. P. Hancock has reached Wellington with Molina's (ieneral, the young Jersey bull of the Noble of Oaklands blood, which has been imported on behalf of Messrs. Hancock, Bayly, and Ilealy, of Stratford. In describing the bull, the New Zealand Times says:—"Mr; Hancock has brought back ft bull winch will not improbably prove the greatest Jersey ever imported into the Dominion, lie ha.s all the making of a champion. Though not twelve months old he already has practically all the characteristics which go to make up the ideal sire of Jersey or dairy stock. There may he lacking a certain refinement in the horn, but otherwise he has a noble headpiece. A good breadth between fine eyes, a capital nostril and good mouth, indicate, with his great heart girth, his strong constitution. The fine condition in which he has landed, quite showyard form, prove him to be the good doer his skin indicates him to be. He could hardly have a better top line, and has an exceptionally lengthy quarter without a suspicion of a droop. His rib is . well sprung, there is a freedom of loose skin in front, and he is well split up ' behind. The last-named feature and the splendidly-placed rudimentaries point to hi.s value as a dairy sire. He cer- , tainly should be. as the dam of his sire was one of the greatest cows ever bred in Jersey, and his own dam is quite an exceptional cow. The yourtg bull, it will be seen, has no weakness to the eye; in fact, it is very seldom a bull of his age presents the same picture Of ideal conformation. The Stratt'oYd breeders are fortunate in securing pah session of him, and dairy farmers Trc. general are to be congratulated oirTtMiJ importation of such a high-class bull of ' a great milking family."
