FEMALE LABOR IX THE BOOT TRADE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Received 10, 12.45 a.m. Sydney, April 10. Trouble is brewing in the boot trade. Mr. Johnstone, secretary of the Boot Trade Council, lias resigned as a protest against the recent Wages Board award, which allowed the employment of 'women on skiving machines. The union claims that the work can be done by apprentices, and, therefore, there is no need to employ female labor. The union threatens to call out the employees of firms who persist in carrying the award into effect.
