BRITISH ELECTION PETITION
"A DISGRACE TO THE COUNTRY." Bf Oable—Pi«»o Assoeiation—Copyright. London, April 9. In the Exeter election petition the judges annulled several bad papers and deducted five votes from the total apparently polled by Mr. St. Maur, Liberal member for Exeter. With regard to the allegation that payment had been made for the distribution of bills, several voters gave evidence that their statements to Mr. Duke, the defeated Unionist, to the effect that they had received payment were all lies. Mr. Justice Ridley stigmatised the statements and denials as a disgrace to the city, and country. The present figures are: Duke 4781, St. Maur 4777. Judgment will be delivered on other points to-morrow. At the recent election the voting was: St. Maur 4780, Duke 4782, and at the election in .Tanunrv. 1910, it was Duke 490-2, St. Maur 4876.
