AVENUE ROAD CLUB. ' The. following report will be presented at the annual meeting of the Avenue Road Card Club to-morrow night:— In presenting the fourth annual report of the Avenue Road Card Club the committee consider the club should be very proud of its year's workings. The season has been a most successful one, both financially and in the tournament. The club handled £lB 3s Id for the season, the chief items of which were: £9 15s Cd social takings; donations, £3 0s 6d; and members' fees, £2 15s! The expenses for the year were £ls 0s Od, the chief items being £6 8s 6d social, £2 8s shield, while a good sum was spent in entertaining. The club has a credit balance of £3 2s 7d. Durin'g the season fourteen matches were played, the club winning nine and losin" five, and finished fourth i n the clianv pionship. The club's euchre team proved the champion team in the association, winning eleven matches and losing three' thus winning the "Malone Challenge Euchre Shield." Altogether fiOO games of euchre were played, the club wfnnin" 34j :ind losing 261, thus winning 84 games more than they lost. The "cribbage team did not do* so well, winning only eight matches and losing six. Alto° pother they played 745 games, winnin" 370 and losing 369, thus winning 7 more games than they lost. Durin» the vear the club donated £1 Ts to the N ow Plymouth Beautifying Association. The club wound up the season with a very successful dance. The thanks of the club arc again due to the ladies' committee, who alone are responsible for the great success of the club's annual social Tt is also due to tile president for his great assistance right through the season, and to the Press and all otliois who assisted the club in anv way during the season.
