Supplies.—Some more poles should be procured as early as possible, as .we require some for new work, a few for renewals in town and on the transmission line, and also some poles will have to be replaced by heavier ones. Our stock of insulators and wire for consumers' service leads is getting low a.na should be replenished. An order for meters for the coming year should be placed as soon as posible. We have about enough to last till another lot can be procured. I shall be pleased to procure the above. Salaries.—l would beg to suggest that as we are just beginning another financial year the remuneration of the stall' employed in this department should be considered. It is about three years since any increases were granted, and during that time the undertaking has been growing steadily and the work and re»pongibility with it. We have more than double the number of consumers connected that we bad at that time. Also the working hours at the powerhouse have been increased by running the dity shift on Sundays, which was started nearly two years ago. For the last two winters a lot of extra time has been worked in clearing the rack at the pipe-head, and there will probably be more during the coming winter, and so. far no extra remuneration has been granted for this work, which is outside of ordinary working hours and has to be Undertaken at all hours and often in the worst of weather. I have no hesitation in. stating that we have a stall who ijiake. .the.. interests of the department their, first, consideration, and I trust that. this subject will receive your favorable, attention. I would also beg to remind yflut that my request of Febriiaryj'jllUO, has aiot yet been considered. new consumers added during the .past year number 151, making a-total to .March 31st. of 670.
