GOLF AND ROULETTE.
Monte Carlo, January 27. High up on Mont Agel, a thousand feet above Monte Carlo, the Casino Administration are completing the moit beautifully situated golf links in all the world. A thousand feet below shimmers the blue sea, with a view of the Riviera from Bordighcra to the Esterel mountains beyond Cannes. On the other side there is a wonderful view of the snow-covered Italian Alps. The elub house is a veritable palace, players are to be brought tip from Monte Carlo by motor ears, and others will come up from La Turbie, the quairtt old Soman town on the Corniche road' half-way up. At La Turbie the excellent Hotel de France is to be put in readiness for golfers. T visited the links yesterday. They will not be able able to plav iintil next season. Two men with clubs under their arms were walking about inspecting the ground. One was the French professional attached to the place. He spok, English, with a Franco-Scottish accent. The other was a keen-eyed little man, a Scotchman. "I've jnist come doon frae North Berwick." he said. "Ah. I thought I knew your face" I said. "You are J" ' "Yes, A.'m Ben Savers." The great little golfer said he had been down at the Casino the day before And I put doon a five-franc piece, too" "Did it winy" "It did." "And what then? Did von try aqain'" A'm a Scotchman." ' '
