COMPENSATION COURT

LIDIARD v. IREDALE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Tuesday. The Compensation Court awarded Mary Walmsley, wife of Robert \V. Walmsley, painter, against Frank Sullivan, contractor, £4OB compensation and £ll funeral expenses in connection with the death of her husband, who was drowned while in defendant's employ while fording the Raukokore river. The case Sydney St. John Lidiard v. Frederick Iredale, of New Plymouth, claiming compensation for an accident resulting in total blindness while discharging cargo from the steamer Pitoitoi. of which he was master, the court held that his wage of £2O a month ana board and lodging estimated at 10s weekly put him outside the clause of the Act limiting claims to persons earning under £5 a week. Judgment was given for defendant with costs fifteen guineas.
