FATAL CASES IN JAVA. By Cable—(Press Association—Copyright, Amsterdam, April 3. It is officially stated that there have been 40 cases of plague in the neighborhood of Malang, of which 20 have been fatal. Renter's Batavia agent states that 100 natives have succumbed to bubonic plague in Eastern Java. CAMPAIGN AGAINST RATS. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, April 4. The Harbor Board at a special meeting this morning resolved to carry out a campaign against rats along the water front Dr. Monk, assistant Public Health Ollicer, stated that the Department had already started an active inspection along the water front. The last plague case was traced (o a warehouse on the water front, and it had been ascertained that the patient, only four days previously, had handled two dead rats.
