The King Edward Memorial lias aroused many protests in the newspapers and in the llou.se of Commons from those wishful of preserving the sylvan aspects of St. James's Palace. Replying to a question in the House, of Commons, Mr. W. Dudley Ward promised to again suggest to the Mansion House Committee the desirability of erecting Mr. Maekennall's statue in front of the Admiralty Arch in Trafalgar Square. Critics object to straightening the road and re-building St. James's bridge.
