In the Swiss Canton nf St. Gall, where the ma king of lace and embroidery is a widely-extended home industry, the labor of children is much exploited, ta some districts 53 to 38 per cent, of the children are employed in tlie worn. A large proportion of the children, who have, of course, to attend school for several hours daily, are working at home from eight to ten hours as well, their ages ranging from six to fourteen.
