At the dinner to the pioneers on Thursday Mr, Golding presided at the piano, a line instrument, lent free to the conmittee by Mr. Hoffman. Messrs. Gilrnour and Clarke repon. the sael of Mr. Simmons' property on the Old Hospital road, to Mr. Asquith, of Shannon. The attention of farmers and investors is directed to the sale of the equity of redemption of property which Mr. Newton King is holding at his mart, Devon street, New Plymouth, to-day. The property is situated at Oniata, and comprises some 105 acres in the best dairying district in Northern Taranaki. Hawkins and Co. have just received a large shipment of aniline dyes direct from the Society of Chemical Industry, Basle, Switzerland. It consists in all of over two hundred weight, and will be utilised in their business for making old material of any description look as good as new. Yesterday morning Messrs. Collier and Co., the big piano people, opened up, direct from John Brinsmead and Sons' factory, London, one of their horizontal grands. The residents of New Plymouth have seldom had the opportunity of hearing such a magnificent instrument, and in order that those who would like to hear it may have that pleasure, Messrs. Collier and Co. have arranged to have the piano, which is an order, on view in their showroom till Monday next.
