GOLF

OARRINGTON ROAD CLUB. The official opening of the Carrington Road Golf Club will take place on the afternoon of the 20th inst. The links, however, are now open, and, everything considered, in very fair order. During the summer the greens have been carefully looked after, and only rain is now wanted to enable the ground to be thoroughly rolled. The club has ordered three rollers tor this purpose. Mr. T. Furlong has presented a club to the value of half-a-guinea to be awarded at the discretion of the committee. This makes three trophies to bo competed for, the president and Mr. Cock having previously 1 made similar donations.

There is some talk of altering the name of the club to one shorter and more euphonious. The committee are revising the local rules and having these, together with the law of golf, placed in the club house.
