NEW SOUTH WALES RUGBY UNION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, March 28. At the annual meeting of the New' South Wales Rugby Union, Mr. McMahon, in moving the adoption of the report, said that last year the union undertook great things which resulted In financial loss, and at the present time was in trouble. He was confident it would overcome the existing crisis from the amateur ipoint of view. The amateurs were not dead by any means, and he was firmly of opinion that they would get back their original position. A strenuous time was ahead, and they were better without men who looked to the gates, for men who deserted for ' the sake of thirty shillings a day would desert to someone else for thirty-one' , shillings. By and by they would get' | back the public who were leaving them 1 because of the statements that the Rugby Union was off color and was , scuttling the Rugby Union game. I Other speakers were greatly optimistic that amateurism would regain its position. One alleged that sixteen players were bought over for £IOO each. ; The annual general meeting of the I Star Football Club will be held in the I Borough Council Chambers on Friday | evening next.
