KING EDWARD MEMORIAL

AN IMPOSING STATUE. By Cable —Press Association —Coiivri™ht. London, March 23. In his King Edward memorial Mr. McKennal proposes to place a statue of King Edward fourteen feet high below the figure of peace, with a processional .group delineating the arts of peace, and a similar group around the figure of Britannia on the St. James' Park side of the memorial. The whole work will be fifty feet high. The sculptor suggests that there should be a flight of steps connecting the memorial with the widened avenue and the bridge over the lake in the park. The bridge will be designed by Mr. Edwin Lutyens. It is calculated that the work will be completed in five years.
