•'•LOAVES AND FISHES." By Telegraph.—Press Association. Tiinaru, Last Night, Speaking at the opening of the addition to the Wainia Taiti (suburban) school, Mr. J. Creagie, M.P., said he ban been criticised as a ''loaves and fishes" 'member. He declared that so long as the present system was maintained, he would continue to do his best to get the legitimate wants of the electorate supplied under that system. SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY. Wellington, Last Night. About one hundred and twenty shopkeepers met to-night to take action in view of the coming poll on the half holiday question. The meeting was strongly against the proposed change, the opinion being that it would causi considerable dislocation and loss of trade, and would especially injure small shop-keepers. A strong committee was ■appointed to work for the retention oi the Wednesday half-holiday. A l'eso lution was passed protesting against the clause in the Shops and Offices Act allowing municipal electors to decide the day for the half-holiday closing of shops, considering the clause harassing and against the interests of the business community.
