WHOLESALE THEFTS OF GOODS. By Telegraph.—Press Association Dunedin, Wednesday. Arising out of charges of alleged theft of goods against two men the detectives also arrested Frances Bell, a widow, on a charge of stealing £SO worth of glass and chinaware from the D.I.C. Her daughter was charged with having received the goods supposed to have been stolen by one of the men. The police j stated that she admitted knowing the goods were stolen. When Mrs. Bell's house was searched a great variety ol goods was found. TROUBLE AT BLACKBALL. Greymouth, Wednesday. Mr. Walter Leitch, manager. of tha Blackball mine, left for Christchurch today to confer with the directors regarding a dispute between the industrial union of workers at Blackball and his company as to trucking. He will also consult the Coal Owners' Federation, a meeting of which is to be held at Dunedin on Saturday, and -return on Tuesday to meet the executive of the union at Blackball on that day. BEQUEST GOING A-BEGGING. Dunetjin, Wednesday. Bridget McCredie made a bequest to her grand-daughter, Mary Brown, of Mataura, but there are three granddaughters Brown, and none named or known as Mary. On application to the court it was decided that the legacy must lapse owing to the uncertainty, and inquiries will be made for the next of kin, who is believed to be one Howard, wandering about in Australia.
