WAIMATE FOOTBALL CLUB. The Waimate Football Club held its annual meeting in Manaia on Saturday evening last. Mr. A. G. Bennett presided over an attendance of 30. The annual report congratulated the senior team on having won the cham-l pionship for the third consecutive sea- 1 son, thus equalling a previous performance in 18M-95-9G. The team played ten games, of which eight were won and two drawn; 150 points were scored by and 20 against the team. The juniors'j record was not so good, as out of seven matches played they won four and lost three. The thirds won the southern 1 championship, but lost in the play-off with Clifton. The club supplied the fol- 1 lowing representative players: Tamu, Piiti, 0. Young, J. Franklin, D. Ryan, and McLeod. The balance-sheet was satisfactory, the club having made a profit of £24 2s 8d on the year's working. I The total credit-balance is £7l 2s lid.' Several new members were elected. Lusher; management committee, Messrs. McKay, Bigham, Christie, J. Paterson, and E. T. Bourke; senior selection committee, Messrs. Christie, E. Burke, and McKay; junior and second junior selection committee, Messrs. E. Vine and Bigham; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. Allison; delegate to union, Mr. Jno. Young. Mr. H. A. Wilson was elected a life member. It was resolved to ask the union to remove the disqualification from B. Ryan, and also to ask for the names of players disqualified through professionalism." |
