NEW LEGISLATION. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Received 21, 11.25 p.m. Calcutta, March 21. The Seditious Meetings Bill has passed the Indian Council. Indian members deprecated it as permanent legislation, but thanked the Government for removing the most objectionable features of the old Bill. Lord Harding said the Act would only be extended to a district when necessary, and he hoped it would remain a dead letter.
