DEFECTS PUZZLE THE EXPERTS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 21, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, March 20. Owing to the defects in the destroyers' steering gear, their visit to Sydney is postponed. Great preparations had been made for an official welcome to them on Wednesday, and there is much disappointment at the postponement. Melbourne, March 20. Experts are completely puzzled by the destroyers' defects. Alerations have been made in the steering gear, but without effect. Engineers are carefully examining each part to try and discover the cause and effect. It is stated that similar difficulties have occurred in the same class of boats in England.
